About

Hi, my name is Sophie and I am a Yoga Teacher from the Orpington area.

 

I have been practicing yoga for over 14 years and have practised or tried many styles.  My style is a blend of the major influences that have shaped my own practise. I use a mixture of Iyengar, Ashtanga and Yin in my classes.

 I have experience of teaching a big range of ages, from teens to over 80's, beginners and intermediate abilities and also footballers and boxers. 

 

I believe yoga can help you at any stage of life, whether physically or emotionally. It is a  great reliever of stress, panic attacks and anxiety, which is a problem for a lot of people.  It can give you a lean, strong and supple body and  it can also help resolve lots of aches and pains by teaching you to become aware of your body and your posture so therefore giving you the knowledge to help heal yourself of lots of posture related issues, which are so common.

I also run regualr workshops in the Orpington and Sidcup area, where i love to delve a bit deeper into various aspects of yoga. 

I am available for 121 sessions for yoga also.  I can help you if you are just starting out and want more time to have things explained or learn adjustments or modifications that are right for your body for anyone with any specific injuries or conditions.  Or equally for a more experienced practitioner, if you want to further your own personal practise and knowledge, meditation, guidance with breathing (pranayama) or just to be pushed with your personal capabilities always in mind a 121 session would be really beneficial too. 

Also these sessions would be great if you have experienced trauma in your life and feel that emotions are coming up in your practice or it is affecting your life in any way, a private and safe place to do yoga and explore any release of these emotions that can get trapped in the body, is possible in these sessions.

Also for those who struggle with anxiety i have lots of ways you can try to ease this from breathing techniques to written exercises and also certain poses to relieve anxiety and tension or to build confidence and find your inner personal power.

I am also qualified in Indian Head Massage so if you are looking for a massage to help relax you, stimulate hair growth, rejuvenate the skin or help with insomnia i can do that as a separate appointment or incorporate it into your 121 session of any of the above.

Private sessions are currently priced at £40 per hour, discounts for lessons bought in bulk.

All weekday classes are held at Walnuts Leisure Centre, Lych Gate Road, Orpington, BR6 0TJ

Workshops

Root Chakra Workshop 

Come and get your new year off to a great start by nourishing, relaxing, grounding and highlighting any fears or issues that may be holding you back from living the life YOU want for 2019 and beyond.  We will be working on the first of the 7 main chakras in the body.  There will be breathing practices there to help you calm and ground.  Physical asana practice to help activate the chakra and relax you further.  Then time to reflect on typical root chakra issues such as fear, anxiety, lack of self worth, instability, some lower back, leg and feet issues, just to name a few.

If none of the above applies to you, you will at the very least come away feeling deeply relaxed, calm and gounded.
